128. Learning Objectives in J. K.Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

ABSTRACT

This study is conducted to analyze the learning objectives of Hogwarts, the school of magic in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The research focuses to answer the statements of the problems that consist of: 1.) What learning objectives are described in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone? 2.) What are the outcomes of the learning objectives to the students of Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone? To answer those questions above, the researcher uses contents analysis. It is used to reveal, understand, and get the message of the literary work. The result of the analysis shows that the learning objectives found are: 1.) Institutional objective, 2.) Curricular objective and 3.) Instructional objective. Then the outcomes of these learning objectives are: 1.) Instructional objective creates the emergence of expert wizards who view the way of life only based on their rationality, 2.) Curricular objective makes the emergence of students who have achievements in magic, 3. Instructional objective causes the majority of Hogwarts students master and be able to apply the taught magic.
